The Way To Heaven

Many claim to know the way to heaven. The real question, though, is what claim do you have to gain access to heaven’s door? What assurance do you have, if you died today, that you would go to heaven? If you could know for sure, would you do what is required?

Consider what the Bible has to say in Romans:

      • WHO IS GOOD ENOUGH? “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one,” Romans 3:10.
      • WHO IS A SINNER? “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23.
      • WHERE DID SIN COME FROM? “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned,” Romans 5:12.
      • WHAT IS THE RESULT OF SIN? “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” Romans 6:23.
      • WHAT IS OUR WAY OUT? “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” Romans 5:8.
      • WHO CAN HAVE HOPE? “For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved,” Romans 10:13.

WHAT CAN I DO TO BE SAVED?

Call upon the Lord Jesus Christ today.

Consider the following verses:

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation,” Romans 10:9-10.

Consider this prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner in need of a savior. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I ask you now to be my Savior and Lord, to guide me and direct me in my life, since I desire to follow you. Open my mind and heart to the Truth as I read and consider your Word. Take my life and shape me into the person who will be useful in your kingdom and who will bring you glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

If this prayer expresses the desire of your heart, and you have prayed in earnest, then the Lord Jesus is now your Lord and Savior. You are now a child of God and possess eternal life. You can be assured of your salvation, since God is faithful to fulfill all of His promises. John the Apostle wrote, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name,” John 1:12.

Continue to read God’s Word for additional assurance through God’s promises. An easy place to start is in the Gospel of John (the fourth book in the New Testament).

This same John wrote, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the son of God,” 1 John 5:13.

If you have taken this bold step, being courageous and praying to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, please let us know. We will rejoice with you and send some material to read as you begin your new life in Christ.
